Books

Be Green and also find P G Wodehouse books ... A member of the Society has kindly forwarded us information on a website found via the Daily Telegraph. The website sells second-hand books for £3.75, including a donation to The Woodland Trust. It is also 'Green' in that books are effectively being recycled. There are a number of PGW books available - simply type in 'Wodehouse' in their search facility. Whilst the Society cannot recommend individual websites or dealers selling PGW-related material, we place the information and link here in case it may be of interest to our members: www.greenmetropolis.com

P G W Bookdealer in Oz David Herboldt, a member of the society from Australia, has sent us information on a bookdealer in New South Wales who specialises in early editions etc of Plum's work. Whilst the Society cannot recommend individual dealers, we place the information here in case it may be of interest to our Australian members. The company is called Lamdha Books and the link below can be used to view their website: www.lamdhabooks.com.au

Dealers
by David Herboldt

The website asks for details of good dealers. I have tried david.garnsworthy@btinternet.com for a couple of books (PGW of course) and been very pleased with the quick service and good quality books. We also hear news of Peter Jones in Scarborough, who deals only in Wodehouse. We have not dealt with him ourselves, but he does offer Society members a 5% discount. See his site www.pgwodehousebooks.co.uk. I normally search either ABE at http://www.abebooks.com/ , Biblion http://www.biblion.com/ or UK BookWorld at http://ukbookworld.com/cgi-bin/search.pl - all of which have been a good source of PGW books. Another possible to try is BookFinder at http://www.bookfinder.com/, but I haven't actually tried that one yet. Of the ones above, ABE is Canadian based, but many British dealers post books to it, so don't be put off (also, I have had books from US dealers in under 2 weeks). Hope this helps members chase that elusive book.

Biographers' Corner. Dominic Green has written a biography of his father Benny Green, called "Benny Green: Words and Music". Benny Green himself wrote a biography of Wodehouse called "P. G. Wodehouse: A Literary Biography" (published 1981), which is probably the best analysis of Wodehouse's musical and lyric-writing career. The new biography is published by London House, £17.99. ISBN 1 902809 39 4.
